This used Lippes Loop intrauterine device (IUD) was collected by Dame Margaret Sparrow during her career as a Family Planning doctor in Wellington, New Zealand.
She collected it partly to assess how it had performed. It was fitted in 1967, then removed 18 years later in 1985.
