Overview
This used Lippes Loop intrauterine device (IUD) was collected by Dame Margaret Sparrow during her career as a Family Planning doctor in Wellington, New Zealand.
She collected it partly to assess how it had performed. It was inserted in Australia, then removed in New Zealand 23 years later in 2001.
