Overview
This poster advertises 'Munted: A ground breaking documentary theatre piece' by Bare Hunt Collective. It was hosted by Bats Theatre in Wellington from 24 to 28 January 2012, one year on from the devastating Canterbury earthquake of 22 February 2011. A percentage of the ticket sales was donated back to the Christchurch community.
This piece of theatre explored real experiences of the earthquake through interviews with reporters and the community.
The poster features the most famous symbol of Christchurch - the Anglican Cathedral at the heart of Cathedral Square. In the earthquakes of 22 February and 13 June 2011 the Cathedral lost its tower and famed stained glass Rose Window - hence its superimposition on a broken cup.
'Munted' is one of the most evocative new words which entered mainstream language after 22 February 2011. It describes an environment, building or object which has been destroyed or rendered unsafe by earthquakes.
