Overview
This poster advertised the 'Cuba for Christchurch' music event held in Wellington on 25 March 2011 in response to the devastating earthquake that struck Canterbury on 22 February 2011. The earthquake caused severe damage and resulted in the loss of 185 lives.
Wellington radio station, Radio Active, helped organise the event and provided promotional, logistical and media support. Musicians, DJs, bars and live venues donated their time and resources. Entry was by a textile $10 'passport' created by local fashion house Starfish. The donor of this poster, Mandatory, helped sell the passports. Funds raised went to the Red Cross Earthquake Appeal.
The poster is printed in the colours of Canterbury - red and black. The event was an excellent example of how people and organisations throughout New Zealand helped support the people of Canterbury through creative fundraising.
