Informal portrait of five young men and a dog, with scrub in the background. The men are all bearded, Pākehā, and wearing rolled-up trousers and shirts with bare feet. Three of them are seated and two are standing. One of the seated men is patting the dog and looking to his right.
The men are identified on the mount as - standing : C E Warden, S R Oliver, T Iredale; and seated: W R Oliver, W L Wallace.They were the members of the KermadecIsland Expedition, a specimen collection expedition which landed on Raoul Island on 31 December 1907 and returned to Auckland on 16 November 1908.These men worked with natural history collections at the Dominion Museum. W R B Oliver went on to become Director of the Museum.
