Overview
Canoes and fale (houses) are visible on the shoreline. Apolima is a small island about nine kilometres from Savaii and two kilometres from Nu'ulopa, Samoa. It is an extinct crater, into whose northernmost part the ocean finds access through a break in the wall. It is probably called Apolima (palm of a hand, handful) because it is so small
