Overview
This camisole is in excellent condition, and illustrates the care Edwardian women took with their dress. They wore such undergarments to keep warm and maintain the cleanliness of their outer garments.
Women also wore camisoles to cover their corsets - the top of the camisole could then be exposed instead of the corset which would not have been considered proper. This is likely with this example because it is black and made from silk.
