In the late 1970s, Terry O’Connor got to know some of the Pacific workers on the factory floor of the South Auckland printing and packaging firm where he was a white-collar worker. His photographs of a Samoan employee and his extended family are among the first to depict the new wave of Pacific immigrants who came to New Zealand for work. Today, they stand as visual evidence of a massive demographic shift.
