A moulding plane (Lund No. 13), used for hollow beading or reeding. The plane is made of beechwood, with a harder boxwood inset to the sole. The plane is stamped 'S.D. PARNELL' on the nose; also the maker's name 'LUND' is faintly visible.
Samuel Duncan Parnell was a carpenter who arrived in Wellington in 1840 and became famous as the originator of the '8 Hour Day' for working men.
