Overview
This box represents a well-known New Zealand biscuit brand, Bycroft's. The graphics on the box are indicative of the period, and include overtly gendered activities for boys and girls. On one side boys are invited to build a plane with Dad’s help. On the other, girls are given the option of displaying airline hostess badges. These attitudes were on the cusp of being challenged at this time. The graphics are also a useful guide to some of the world’s main airlines of the early 1970s, and tap into children's interest in aviation during this period of great aviation expansion throughout the world, where people could fly further, quicker and in larger numbers.
