Overview
The first contraceptive vasectomies in New Zealand were performed in 1967 by the pioneering Dr Donald Urquhart-Hay. This is one of his key instruments used in the procedure.
During this period, permanent contraception (both male and female) became popular until it rated second only to teh oral contraceptive pill ('the Pill') by the mid-1970s.
