Overview
This page of fancy dress costumes has been torn out of a Weldon's pattern book. It was amongst a group of patterns and haberdashery items collected by Erna (b. 1898-86) and Hilda (1901-83) Lieber. The sisters ran a small embroidery supply shop in the Wellington area and were sewers themselves.
Weldons' Paper Patterns
Established by Walter Weldon in London in 1885, Weldon's Ltd specialised in the production of paper patterns for home dressmaking and needlework. The company published monthly newsletters, such as Weldon's Ladies Journal and Weldon's Dressmaker, and supplements focusing on particuar aspects of dressmaking, such as fancy dress costumes. This page features patterns for a Black Cat (pattern 62603), House to Let (pattern 63639), Modern Pierrot for a man (pattern 62610), Powder Puff (pattern 6013) and a French Pierrot for a woman (pattern 62604).
