Topic: Botany research
Is part of topic Plants
The research of Te Papa's botanists includes describing new species, revising taxonomic treatments (names and descriptions), producing tools to better facilitate the identification of plants, and studying the evolution of New Zealand's plants.
Our work focuses on marine algae (seaweeds), flowering plants (particularly forget-me-nots, orchids, and lancewoods), and ferns. There are also active collection programmes for lichens and mosses.
