Gift of Mr I C Ferguson, 1982

This dress was worn by Lucy Cracroft at her wedding to James Ferguson at St Mark’s Church Wellington, on 29 December 1914.

This cream silk full-length wedding gown consists of an over-blouse that extends down to mid thigh, trimmed with delicately pleated silk and beading, and a large self-fabric buckle at the waist. The train is decorated at the hem with a bow design made of pearls. Beneath this, the train is padded and weighted to create a fluid movement when worn.
