Instead of a decorated folded leaf attached to sticks, brisé fans are made from overlapping blades, usually all the same length, held together by a rivet at the base and connected by a ribbon along the upper edge. Brisé is French for 'broken' and this brisé fan combines ebony blades decorated with a gold and silver geometric pattern with brown and red feathers.
