Overview

This 'Hansel Waistcoat' was worn on the catwalk for MisteR's 'Not So Grimm' show at New Zealand Fashion Week in 2011. 'Not So Grimm' showcased MisteR's Winter Collection 2012.

The husband and wife design team behind MisteR, Mickey Lin and Ra Thomson, lost their workroom and largest retailer of their fashion label in the devastating Canterbury earthquake of 22 February 2011. But they didn't give up, and with the assistance and support from many quarters, were able to show for their first time at New Zealand Fashion Week.

They felt their collection was blessed with a fairytale ending so they called it 'Not So Grimm' as a metaphor for their journey since the earthquakes. Their show at Fashion Week was a resounding success and received an emotional standing ovation.

Mickey and Ra are committed to making New Zealand made clothing from New Zealand sourced fabrics, using only natural fibres (silk, cotton, wool). MisteR's style is significant for its combination of classic British tailoring and the 'experimental fun and quirkiness of Asian fashion' (press release).
