Emeritus Professor Michael Dunn

Emeritus Professor Michael Dunn studied Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, gained his MA from the University of Melbourne, and PhD from the University of Auckland. He taught Art History at the University of Auckland until 1994 when he was appointed to a Chair in Fine Arts and made Head of Elam. He has written extensively and authoritatively on New Zealand Art History and was a contributor to the 1981 Rita Angus exhibition catalogue. Although he has retired from academic life, he continues to be very active as a speaker and writer, and is regarded as one of New Zealand’s most distinguished art historians. He has produced essays for the forthcoming book on Te Papa’s art collection.
