Friday 20 March, 12.15pm–1pm. Soundings Theatre, Level 2
In her illustrated lecture Emilie Sitzia will look at how Monet describes in his own words the theory and practice of Impressionism.
His letters to friends, colleagues and family describe in details his working technique and his daily struggle with plein air painting as well as the development of his theories and his will to show how he himself experiences the world. Those letters allow us to follow the development of his career and get a more intimate sense of the man behind the paintings.
