Wellington sketchbook
Wellington sketchbook 1960s
pencil, black chalk, crayon on paper, 187 x 273 mm
Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, on loan from the Rita Angus Estate
These sketchbooks include detailed drawings and day-to-day observations that Rita Angus made of the city around her. She developed some of the drawings into paintings of Thorndon and Island Bay.
Angus also used her sketchbooks to record quotes from art books that she found particularly interesting.
