Suzy’s Coffee Lounge in Willis Street was designed by the Austrian-born architect Fritz Eisenhofer. It was a popular meeting place for young Wellingtonians in the 1960s.

Angus appreciated the sleek modern lines of Eisenhofer’s design. She said she found the composition for this painting ‘ready-made’ at Suzy’s – the ‘horizontals, verticals and triangulars were all there, waiting’.
