These large bird portraits are intended as a metaphor for humankind’s survival. Protected for thousands of years by geographic isolation, the status of native New Zealand birds is an indicator of climatic change and the health of the planet.
The irony is that, although widespread, the number of common sparrows is declining in some countries.
