Speaking about this bottle in 2010, Stichbury described it as ‘my reading of those Nigerian influences I loved and was excited about.’ He has taken Nigerian ceramic details – the wide lip, the ribbed neck, the roulette patterning typical of Gwari pottery – and adapted them to create an elegant shape with subtly contrasting colour and texture.
