Overview
Mick Wallankarri Tjakamarra was the oldest founding member of Papunya Tula Artists. According to John Kean, a Papunya arts adviser in the 1970s, Wallankarri ‘favoured yellow ochre mixed with white, which on a black background produced transparent greenish shades. His concentric circles are often elaborated with vegetable motifs, representing wild yams and fruits.’
