Overview
Drag artist Toni Rogét, aka 'Frankie', wore this larger-than-life head-dress to perform on stage in the cabaret act 'Frankie and Johnny' with Johnny Croskery. Frank Lund (Rogét), who made many of his own costumes, regularly headlined at Carmen’s Balcony nightclub in Wellington, famous for alternative LGBTQI+ entertainment in the 1970s.
Stage costume like this head-dress must be striking from a distance. Under bright stage lights, the shimmer and shine of the fake pearls and plastic jewellery would have entranced audiences.
