Overview
An arm chair, made in England about 1690. The chair is walnut, with tapestry seat and back which are upholstered in panels of gros point needlework, depicting flowers and foliage. It has slender curved arms with bold roll over and turned baluster supports. The back, side and central stretchers are turned. The front legs are trumpet shaped and fluted with narrow scroll feet, an early form of paw feet. The front rail is carved with a simple "C" scroll cresting.
