Overview

This bathing costume was probably not intended for swimming but for being seen in - as a highly fashionable sunsuit.

It was one of a number of swimsuits brought to New Zealand from the United States for a photographic shoot in the 1950s, and was kept by the model.

When silver is woven into textiles, they shine and shimmer with light and life, even when the silver is synthetic.
