Overview

This photograph shows Helen Hitchings in her Wellington gallery. On the table in front of Hitchings are sculptures by Margaret Garland (standing figure on the left) and R.N. Field (stone sculpture on the right). Hitchings is holding a jug made by Timaru Potteries, to her design. The bowl on the table in front of her is likely also by Timaru Potteries. The two ribbed bottles with stoppers are by Len Castle, and are amongst his first works.

There is an early Castle bottle in Te Papa's collection which may be the larger of the two bottles in this photograph: https://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/object/44777
