Overview

Only a few condom brands were on sale in New Zealand in the 1940s–50s. All were imported, in understated packaging. Among them was Durex, the British brand that became a household name. The company’s innovations included electronic testing and lubricated condoms in the 1950s, and form-fitting condoms in the 1960s.
