Overview
This photograph shows, in the foreground, Maud Herd, Minnie Wallis and Ralph Herd, watching the Napier Mardi Gras procession. The float behind them jokingly alludes to the anticpated capture of the enemies of Britain and her Allies: the German Kaiser, the Emperor of the Austrian Hungary and the hear of the Ottoman Empire.
It is the sixth of 18 photographs taken by Leslie Adkin, Maud Herd's fiance, during his six-day holiday with the Herds, 24-29 December 1914.
