Child's painting: 'Mrs Dyer welcomes us.'

This is part of a group of four art works drawn by first year primary school children after their first visit to a school dental clinic. It depicts a dental nurse checking the children's teeth.

The class teacher has added text at the bottom of the picture to help tell the story of the class's visit.

The free School Dental Service was a government initiative that was the primary mode of delivery for children's dental health care for most of the 20th century.
